House or fields first?
I recently read the following and completely appreciate that it probably means the essential of food first for your family (grown in fields) but was struck that it could mean something else, as shelter (in houses) is also essential for your family:
“Put your outdoor work in order
and get your fields ready;
after that, build your house.”
(Proverbs chapter 24 verse 27)
What could it mean? Understanding Scripture with Scripture, thinking of the parable of the sower (or parable of the grounds) from Matthew chapter 13, could it mean that spreading the seeds (the Word of God) to benefit others (who don’t know it) i.e. outdoor work, is more important to do first as a priority than building up ourselves ‘in house’?
In other words, evangelism should be all of our priority in life before ‘church life’?
What do you think?
So far this Summer
Love Essex Southend High Street event
I am heading up the street work teams for the Love Essex event in Southend High Street on 13th September where there will be live music, speakers, stories, youth activities, motorbikes, rap artists, and a spiritual spa throughout the day. I spoke at the volunteers envisioning and training evening in July about how to share Jesus with people on the day, whatever role anyone has as we can and should all do it!
Preaching tour
OK tour sounds a bit grand. I spoke at Great Wakering Evangelical Church, Life Church Chelmsford and Great Leighs Free Church on ‘Be realistic’ when it comes to talking to people about Jesus – for us and them. You can have a watch and listen to it here 42 mins into the video:

Then please action one thing this week for yourself!
The Word on the Street again
Churches were out in Chelmsford High Street again in June talking with people about Jesus and I managed to have a follow up conversation with someone I spoke with last time and a friend of his. Please pray that we have more conversations with more people to point them to Jesus.
So good this Autumn
Love Essex Southend High Street event
See ‘So far this Summer’ and here for details.
The Word on the Street
Back out in Chelmsford High Street 18th October and 15th November.
Another Churches Together in Chelmsford event in the High Street?
Plans for a possible Saturday live music / free food / talking with people about Jesus event in the Autumn in Chelmsford High Street with the team involved in the Good Friday community events over the past two years are being worked on at the moment. Watch out on social media for confirmation and details.
Speaking at Christmas Cafe Church!
There are only 135 days to go to Christmas! Great Leighs Free Church have asked me to speak at their Cafe Church again on 30th November, where they have people from their community activities coming along as well.
Thanks for all your prayers
